In all the Italian and Croatian cities and towns involved in REVIVAL, there are many dismissed areas, buildings (e.g. summer camps, schools, barracks, military fortifications) and industrial complexes lying in a state of neglect and decay. This is an almost totally lost heritage, that today must be re-discovered, revitalized and reused for multiple reasons. REVIVAL will allow to transform the lost cultural heritage in a leverage for a sustainable and more balanced territorial development, in which a relevant abandoned man-made heritage will play a central role. As the starting point is clear, the change that REVIVAL will introduce is to put at the center of attention of regional and local communities and potential investors the lost heritage concerned and try to find for it creative and sustainable solutions.

VIDEO

One of the main project REVIVAL aims was documenting and revitalizing forgotten architectural heritage from the 20th century. Special focus was on defining the methodology of research and the use of new technologies in the construction of a digital centre for the REVIVAL project, as well as the use of 360° technology as content for e-learning and documenting forgotten heritage. In this video are given short overview of the Digital documentation center.

Digital documentation centre: https://www.projectrevival.eu/en

The main aim of the events organized in abandoned heritage was: - to draw attention of policy-makers, regional/local communities , potential investors on a heritage too often neglected & forgotten, in spite of its historical&architectonical value as well as its potential reuse for cultural & touristic purposes; -to demonstrate that a light &gradual reuse, not requiring immediately big investments, is possible by hosting temporary cultural-artistic events capable to attract a public of residents& tourists; -to lay down basis for a new cultural tourism offer based on fruition of testimonials of complex history of ‘900 in eligible areas of Italy &Croatia.
